New signs providing continuity with the interpretation signs on the River-Forest Walk have been installed recently.      Funding of $9500.00 in December 2012 with a grant from Tasmanian Community Fund enabled the original 19 signs, many degraded by weather and vandalism, to be replaced with a durable re-cycled product, preserving historical information for residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy. In 1926 the North East Advertiser describes a working bee of over 40 cars and 180 men and boys converged on Bridport to clear a mile of foreshore, construct a promenade, and erect picnic tables and seats and repair bathing sheds. The working bee was a great success and an illustration of what can be achieved by cooperation and organisations.

With the opening of the River Forest section in July completing the circuit around the town, a Bridport 10 is now on the event calendar. The inaugural Bridport 10 – Cafe Rahra Fun Run & Walk is to be held on Sunday October 23rd, 2011. Training has started for this event. There is exciting news to convey as we embark on week 3 of the Bridport Walking Track building experience. Team leaders Nick and Tim report that 78 metres of base/top gravel has now been laid, and is ready for final compacting. Another 41 metres of base gravel is also ready for a top layer dressing.
